About this song
Brahms wrote this song (Op. 49 No. 4) to celebrate the birth of a friend's baby. Babies all over the world grow up hearing it from music boxes and toys. The whole melody is here; its narrow range and slow pace make it a great first song.
Practice tips
It starts with a two-note pickup, E–E. Come in right after the count.
Count the three beats with a gentle sway, "oom-pah-pah", and keep the line smooth.
The low C at the end of bar 9 also needs a left-pinky key. Check it on the chart first.
