A 15-minute daily routine
A 15-minute daily saxophone routine for busy adults: long tones, the fingering quiz, section loops, playing a song through, and tips for keeping it up.
A little every day beats two hours once a week by far. Your fingers and lips remember what they do often.
| Time | What to do |
|---|---|
| 3 min | Long tones: three easy notes, four beats each |
| 3 min | Fingering quiz: ten questions, then retry the ones you missed |
| 7 min | Practice song: loop only the hard section, speeding up each round |
| 2 min | A favorite song from start to finish, without stopping for mistakes |
How to keep it up
- Leave the sax on a stand instead of in its case. Less effort to start means you play more often.
- Practice while logged in and each day gets a stamp on your practice log. Watching your 🔥 streak grow is motivating in itself.
- If your lips hurt, rest that day. Pushing through only slows you down.
- Record the same song once a month and compare. You will hear your progress.
